It's about time the people of this country recognize that it is in the better interest of man to be free. You may not agree with your neighbors' personal habits, but if those practices were more mainstream would you agree with empowering those neighbors to legally force these (in your eyes controversial) habits upon you? Drug use is not healthy, it does not take a law to show you the effects of drug abuse. The effects are on street corners and in homes across this country. To believe that passing a law with no other intent than to try to stifle heart break or even to enforce one portions moral standards is in my view immoral. This country was founded on the idea that man as an individual was endowed by a creator with inalienable, natural rights, to protect his life and therefore his property. Government was created to recognize each man and his property, and to bring anyone who steals or forces that life or property away from free men to justice, nothing more.
In conversations with my more liberal friends they tend to look at current economic "stability", such as the rise in the stock market, with the DOWJONES setting records and what not ; which I do believe is being proped up by the inflation caused by quantitative easing (QE). As we witness the value of what we earn diminish and thus the value of what we trade diminish, at what point are we aloud to question whether or not what we are watching is actual progression? Im not saying that the average person does not live more lavishly then they did one hundred years ago. It does not take much to recognize how comfortable our lives have become with recent technological advancements. I can not deny the technological, medical and scientific advancement that has occurred over the past century, no more than anyone paying attention can deny the severe drop in value that the American dollar is experiencing. Is this really human progression?

Yes, we live with some of the highest standards ever experienced. Yes, some industries have, for short terms, benefited, as they are propped up by federal "investments". In the larger scope of things, we can see the destruction being caused by these "investments"; be it the destruction of the dollar's value, the collapse of the housing market in 2008 that sent economies into a death spiral, the never ending war on drugs that ruins future job opportunity for nonviolent offenders, the war on terror that has reached a point this year that representatives actually had to force the president to answer whether or not he felt that he had the the authority to target US citizens inside our borders with drone strikes. The list of offenses and destruction can go on and on. I do believe that enough problems exist to prove wrong, this idea that our governments should be used to impose "morality" upon the majority.
It's time people begin to take responsibility for their own lives. The wealth that you create is yours and yours to spend as seen fit. The property of any other man is his and his to spend as he sees fit. That's the bottom line.
